Alhamdulillah berada di rumah (Johor) sekarang for some family matters. I was so excited bila tengok banyak barang-barang baby kat rumah. Insyaallah K.Izah akan due awal bulan 4. Can’t wait for my first anak buah. Ermm .. tak sangka pulak Long(big bro) balik juga kali ni dari Sabah. Dah tu, balik bukan sorang-sorang .. bawa kejutan pulak =). By the way sepanjang di rumah ni, tertarik dengan 1 iklan di ASTRO iaitu EARTH HOUR Campaign. And I’m interested in that. I need more info on the campaign and start google. So this the beneficial info that i got from http://www.wwf.org.my/ , http://www.earthhour.org.my :
Malaysia will be taking part in a global movement to stand united with 1000 cities and its peoples for Earth Hour by switching off non-essential lights for one hour. Earth Hour, which will take place on 28 March 2009, 8.30pm to 9.30pm (local time), is aimed at promoting awareness to fight against climate change. The results of the election are being presented at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009. We want one billion votes for Earth, to tell world leaders that we have to take action against global warming.
Earth Hour began in one city, in one country in 2007, when more than 2.2 million households and businesses in Sydney turned off their lights for one hour on Saturday 31 March 2007.
Just one year later, Earth Hour reached 370 cities and towns in more than 35 countries across 18 timezones, and the campaign shifted from a Sydney event to a global sustainability movement. An estimated 50 to 100 million people around the world switched off their lights for Earth Hour in 2008, and global landmarks including the Golden Gate Bridge, Rome’s Coliseum, the Coke billboard in Times Square and Jumeirah Hotel in Dubai darkened for one hour.
Media Prima and Radio Televisyen Malaysia would be airing Earth Hour commercials on their radio and television networks and 8TV would shut down its television transmission during Earth Hour, Harvinder S Randhawa, corporate relations executive of WWF-Malaysia, said in a phone interview last week.
Buildings open to the public such as the Mandarin Oriental, Sheraton Subang and Kuala Lumpur Pavilion would be switching off their lights outside the building, while Menara Kuala Lumpur has offered its venue for the upcoming event at the end of this month.
Through the event, organisers would like to send a message to world leaders leading up to the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2009, scheduled to take place in Copenhagen in December, on the need for a commitment to short- and long-term actions that would reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Malaysians from all walks of life are strongly encouraged to be a part of this global movement and make a difference in the world that we live in. Sign up for Earth Hour at www.earthhour.org/malaysia and make a pledge to switch off your lights now. Taking the first step is as easy as turning off a light.
So Malaysian and especially MAHASISWA sekalian, would you participate? Or you just the ignorance? Just a simple step but will make a big impact. Mungkin saudara-saudara mengatakan bahawa ada cara lain yg lagi effective utk menyelamatkan bumi kita tapi tak salah untuk kita support salah satu kempen untuk menyelamatkan bumi kita ini.
Let’s join the world for EARTH HOUR!
